What is Balance Your Body Yoga?
Balance Your Body Yoga has a creative and compassionate approach and philosophy toward yoga.  It is a modern yoga program that is designed to restore and maintain our body's appropriate range of motion, develop beneficial alignment, optimize muscle balance and cultivate physical awareness.

Drawing on over 30 years of development and embracing knowledge of anatomy and physics, Balance Your Body Yoga centers on the cultivation of muscle balance for enhanced strength and flexibility. With sensitivity and compassion, we teach yoga postures to develop muscle groups that balance in harmony.

We believe that you can discover your deepest potential for growth, and experience transformational epiphanies as you learn to breath deeply, nurture wholeness and health and live in the present moment.

Balance Your Body Yoga recognizes that not every pose is for everybody, and that physical limitations may be a result of injury or illness, poor posture in a work environment, or overuse in athletic performance.   Balance Your Body Yoga  therefore centers on muscle functions and body mechanics, and utilizes beneficial exercises and yoga postures to restore a balance of strength and flexibility.  It is an innovative method to enhance and optimize body performance for everyone at all levels.

The 7 principles of Balance Your Body Yoga

Strength We seek to enhance our strength to provide a stabilizing balance to all of our joints. We recognize that the true pathway to flexibility is proper strength. We use utilize training methods to challenge our muscles at the appropriate starting level and progressively challenge them as they become stronger. We believe that we can be stronger than we currently are.
Motivation We cultivate a positive attitude in order to motivate ourselves to achieve our goals. We formulate plans and create a step by step process toward each aspect of our goal. We focus on each success to motivate our continued progress.
Knowledge We recognize that knowledge is a powerful tool and we seek to learn as much as possible about the complex workings of our bodies. We seek to have rational reasons behind each decision we make and a logical plan to carry out our mission.
Posture/Awareness We recognize that our postures reflect not only the physical stresses on our bodies but also the psychological burdens we shoulder. We seek to be aware of ourselves and our body postures at all times to reduce the physical stresses that interfere with our muscular balance. We seek to cultivate an awareness of the current moment and reduce our stress by focusing on the now.
Breath We seek to open our breath to its full capacity and enhance the function of our lungs. We breathe in deeply an exhale slowly. We seek incorporate our breath into every movement.
Transformation We recognize the transformational power of exercise. We recognize that a true state of wellness involves a balance within our physical, mental and spiritual selves. We believe our bodies possess the natural capacity of healing and we encourage this process.
Persistence We understand that the completion of our goals of a perfectly balanced structure will take time and persistence. We are willing to apply our strategies toward a more balanced body continuously and for as long as necessary to achieve our goals.
