Amy
Garratt, ERYT 500
is a teacher trainer and an international seminar presenter. She
and her colleague, Julie Byrd, are
co-founders of Balance Your Body Yoga.
Amy began teaching yoga in the 90’s, drawing on a teaching
background of
pilates, fitness, dance and athletics. In her search to become a better
instructor, she increased her studies in anatomy and nutrition. Her
deeper
understanding of muscular imbalances created the strategies to adapt
poses for
any student regardless of their starting point. With her concentration
on the
union of the science of the human body and the science of yoga, and the
collaboration with her colleague Julie Byrd, Balance Your Body Yoga was
developed.
Having studied different yoga styles, fitness programs and healing
techniques,
Amy centers on balancing muscle structures, and guiding each student
to incorporate yoga as a method in their search for health
and well-being.
Amy’s intention is to make yoga
possible for
everyone from the recuperative level to the elite athlete.
She
teaches yoga from an intuitive and
highly developed understanding and respect of the complexities of the
human
body. With Amy's compassionate guidance and enthusiasm, students learn
to adapt
poses and exercises to achieve their goals from a safe, intelligent and
well-laid foundation. Through creativity, imagination and
inspiration, she teaches to honor the wisdom of the body and work
according to its limits and strengths..
